Making Money with the power of 2

Posted on Mar 12, 2013 in Money Matters | 0 comments

I am one of those people who is skeptical about everything. I have worked hard all my life. I graduated from a prestigious college and worked my way up the corporate ladder. I had a nice size 401K. I owned $75K in stocks. I worked 40-60 hours a week. I had dental insurance, medical insurance, I got discounts on things because I made so much money. I was given carte blanche at the bank. They would call me and take me out to lunch. I had an UNLIMITED business expense credit card. Every and all expenses I put on my card were approved. Even a Vegas Trip. I drove a brand new car every few years, I mean right off the lot. Didn’t blink an eye. I would go food shopping once a week and spend $300 easy, just for myself and hosted lots of dinner parties. I even had a very impressive wine collection. I never thought twice about being able to afford gas in my car. You’re getting the picture here. Sound familiar? Here I want to show you a picture of me back then.

Yes, that’s me in a Pottery Barn in Santa Barbara, CA. This is how I got to Santa Barbara, CA that particular day. My friend calls me up and says “What are you doing?” Nothing I say, She says “Wanna take my plane and fly to Santa Barbara for LUNCH?” Hell YES! I say. And that is how my life used to be. I was able to fly to SB have lunch and buy a beautiful couch from Pottery Barn. I didn’t realize how fortunate I was at the time to a) To be included in a circle of friends that owned airplanes b) To be able to jet off on a whim without any hesitation c) To be able to afford to purchase a brand new beautiful couch on that day.

I have to say, life has turned 180 for me. If you’ve read my previous posts, you would gather that my fiancee’ threw me out of our house when I was 7 months pregnant with his son, after my son’s birth we were homeless and had spent all our money. We were not eligible for Government assistance and I couldn’t work because I had to keep my baby alive. I couldn’t afford daycare to get a job and the father left the country on vacation with his girlfriend at the time for 3 months. And the list goes on and on. Sound familiar?

Finally after 5 years I can start to wrap my head around what I want my life to look like and how to start making income.

Where are we now? I still can’t take a full time job. Why? Some would ask..Because I do not want a daycare lady to raise my son. I want to be able to spend as much quality time with him as possible before he ventures off to school. I want to create the life that he will flourish in and allow him to see his MOMMY making a difference in the world. I want him to do all the things he wants to do without financial setbacks.

Here is our car as of the past two years. I’ve never even officially owned a car with title in hand, I’ve always either leased or bought new with monthly payments. But, I knew I had to change something, QUICK. So, I had no choice but to purchase this car. I paid $1200 for it. I’m not proud of it, but it runs great and gets us around town. However, we can’t take road trips or go out of town. It is not what I want for our family car.

The TRUTH about MLM’s

Posted on Jan 4, 2011 in Money Matters | 23 comments

Okay Mom’s let’s talk about MLM’s (Multi-Level Marketing). I am sure as a single mom you get hit up on a regular basis to participate in these ventures. I want to talk a bit about the reality and engagement for some of them out there.
Like me, I am sure some of your friends and family members have talked to you about the new “money maker” in their lives. I’ve investigated a bunch of them myself and here’s what I have to interject:
MLM’s can make you money. Now, i know… you’re thinking “Ugg, I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work”. I’m going to share with you the MLM’s I have participated in and my experience.

Pre-Paid Legal Services -

This seamed like a really great opportunity for me. I mean the concept is remarkable. You as a member get free Legal Services and advise. I actually signed a few people up and used the service myself on several occasions. I even signed up my parents and they used it for their benefit on small legal issues.

Okay, the downside… It takes an ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF TIME. And don’t let anyone tell you differently… this is the reality of ALL MLM’s. It also takes a bit of money to get started.

So, honestly as a Single Mom, how on earth can I participate in an MLM without taking up all my time? When I was doing Pre-Paid Legal I was a Single 30 something WITHOUT CHILD. So how on earth am I supposed to do it now?

Arbone International-

Arbone makes probably the BEST skin care in the world. I can honestly say this because I would get compliments on a daily basis. A friend of mine signed me up just after giving birth. I haven’t really shared my after-birth experience with you yet, but let me just say…HORRIFIC!!! That story is for later. I had EXTREME POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION. I could barely get out of bed. And as a new SINGLE MOM, that was really hard.

My friend thought it would be great for me to “get out there” and sell beauty products…RIGHT…

I think, had I been in a better mindset, it may have been very profitable for me. And again, this took an enormous amount of time and energy, which I didn’t have any of. I guess, my advise would be…Don’t engage in any type of high energy sales-MLM-face to face networking thing unless you are emotionally stable. People will see right through you.

Here I am now, in Northern Idaho and a good friend of mine turned me onto a new MLM. However, this time I am in a better emotional space and this is the most important part…I am at the top of the food chain. This new MLM is just that…NEW. It hasn’t even launched yet. It’s a membership based MLM with tons of benefits. The best part is the compensation plan. My friend Jeff Breakey is a career MLM specialist. He is one of the forefront advisors for MLM’s. There are very few of these guys on the planet. And Jeff just happens to be a close friend.

So, I here is the links to the company. It’s called Q-Save. Maybe you are in a place like me, where you have some time and some money to invest in a residual future for yourself and your family.
